Marlowe Manor Trivia
established 1975?
Did you know that Marlowe Manor was named after John Marlowe?
"All of the streets in Marlowe Manor were named after employees of Rector Companies, relatives, and close friends of Billy Rector, President and Chairman of the Board. Marlowe Manor was named after the CFO of Rector Companies, John Marlowe. Jim Lilly was the primary contractor for the Rector Companies developed houses. This is just an overview of the many Rector Companies and ‘OH’ by the way Billy Rector was one of the many people responsible for planning and developing Pulaski Academy. The main idea behind the school was to ‘bring back the neighborhood schools vs. busing’. The history is very lengthy and interesting for the projects/developments."
"I lived on Morrison Rd. From 1981 – 1989, I lived with my parents on Elizabeth Court. I always heard that the streets in Marlowe Manor were named for Staff at Pulaski Academy – Ellen Hornaday (Ellen Ct.), Mr. Shumate, the headmaster (Shumate), etc."
"We had our house appraised a few months ago, and our appraiser’s name was Jennifer…as in Jennifer Drive. Her father was the developer for the neighborhood, and he named the street after her. "
"Stonehenge was originally named Karen Lane. But we believe it was changed becaue there was another Karen Lane in town."
